We are in Paris and everything is in bloom, well except us. 24 hrs sans sleep.......and then my determination to WALK from Charles de Gaulle airport TO the hotel, only to find that there is actually no way to walk out of the airport short of walking in the car lanes of busy roads. Back to airport, free hotel shuttle.
Since we are headed for Madrid today, I did not expect much from the " almost within walking distance of the airport" lodgings, but in fact there is a wonderful quaint village that the hotels have been built around, Roissy. Ancient wall ruins alongside very old trees.
Best part of all, lovely restaurant, very nice staff who were more than patient with our faltering French."........ And the very best wonderful wine. France we HAVE missed you!
Onwards today to Madrid by plane , then we catch a train to Salamanca and will be meeting our friends there. Bon Soir mes amies

A pilgrimage in Spain
We tend to exist between obsessions, always. If it is not one thing then it is a totally different thing. We are just leaving on a journey to Spain. We are going to "the way of Saint James " better known as the el Camino, a series of trails that lead to Santiago de compostella. The significance of the destination is that, it is where the remains of St. James lie. We shall be taking the via de la plata "way" which starts in the south of Spain. We will be starting half way along, at the 500 km mark, a town called Salamanca.
We have our back pack weight down to 16-17 lbs each, and although we are keen to get walking, we are stuck in Kamloops airport waiting for a delayed flight.
Our plane is finally here so away we go
